Dr. Lee Shiflett, 1947-2016
Dr. Lee Shiflett died on May 27, 2016, after a five-month battle with small cell lung cancer. Dr. Shiflett was a member of the SLIS faculty from 1979 until 2001. In 2001, he became Professor and Chair of the Department of Library and Information Studies at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He was a scholar, researcher, editor and author, as well as a beloved teacher. Memorial gifts may be made to the UNCG Library and Information Studies Endowment, which was established to honor Dr. Shiflett upon his planned retirement. The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) is a nationally accredited division of Louisiana State University.
