Professor Emeritus Ed Holton selected for AHRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award
March 22, 2023
According to the Academy of Human Resource Development, “The HRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award is presented to scholars in human resource development and related disciplines who have made enduring contributions to the Academy’s mission of Leading Human Resource Development through Research.” Upon reflecting on his work, service, and devotion, it comes at no surprise that Professor Emeritus Elwood "Ed" Holton, EdD, has been selected for the AHRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award.
Holton devoted 23 years of exceptional service to Louisiana State University, where he was Director of the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, the Jones S. Davis Distinguished Professor of Human Resource, Interim Associate Dean for Distance Learning and Leadership, and Interim Director of the School of Library & Information Science.
During these 23 years, he worked to establish a one-of-a-kind program for Louisiana students, LSU’s Leadership Development Institute. The mission of LDI, according to its website, is to “offer cutting-edge, customized, evidence-based leadership development preparation, interventions, and coaching tailored to individuals, boards, communities, and organizations in the education, youth advancement, government, non-profit, and human services sector.”
Reflecting on his time at LSU, colleagues and friends state that Holton contributed greatly to the continued growth of the college and was an amazing mentor to the entire community. Students describe him as an admirable figure in their time at LSU who was always willing to take the time to work with them and help them to grow as individuals.
The 2023 AHRD Annual Conference occurred from March 1-4, 2023, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
