Baton Rouge - The School of Leadership and Human Resource Development would like to congratulate Julia Bachman for receiving the Association of Talent Development (ATD) – Baton Rouge Chapter Academic Scholarship. This scholarship was established to recognize an outstanding degree-seeking student who has shown an interest in pursuing a career in the area of Talent Development.

Julia is currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development here at LSU. She returned to school in the summer of 2017 after working in surgery for eight years. She is currently working at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center as a Performance Improvement Intern where she works closely with their Leadership Development Consultant.

Julia decided to pursue a degree in LHRD after working for a few local organizations over the years and noticing that most of them have managers who lack the competencies to encourage a motivated, satisfied workforce. Many of the organizations were unaware of how to change a negative or toxic work culture.

“Every interaction, every situation, every experience is reduced down to how human beings regard and behave towards each other.”

Her goal is to further her understanding of interpersonal relationships in the workplace and aid in the application of this theory. After achieving her first undergraduate degree, Julia worked in surgery for several years helping others pursue a healthier life. She learned the value of supportive leadership and honest communication particularly with respect to team effectiveness, realizing her passion for Human Resources. Julia aspires to help others build their own leadership skills to apply in the workplace and to provide people at all levels of an organization an avenue to express their voice.

“I feel this will be my avenue to contribute to the improvement and progression of humanity”.

Julia applied for the ATDBR academic scholarship because she believes that ATDBR is an excellent local resource for training and development professionals, and the scholarship fosters development for students seeking a degree in the area of talent development.

Congrats Julia!
