The Office of Educational Research Connects Research To The Broader Needs of the Community
September 27, 2022
BATON ROUGE, LA - The Office of Educational Research (OER) is a new entity in the School of Education (SoE) at LSU. It was created as a means of connecting the research expertise of faculty and students in the SoE with the research needs of the broader community of educators in Louisiana. OER will be launched this fall and promises to be an extraordinary resource for policymakers, administrators, teachers, parents, and students. The motto of OER is Research in Service to Practice. This phrase captures the primary goal of this office, that being to bridge the gap between research and practice. To accomplish this, we engage in a wide range of activities. These include annual Research Briefs, which are intended to address cutting edge education issues facing the state and nation and offer policy makers and practitioners guidance on solutions for challenging problems. Our team will search the state and nation to identify proven solutions to education problems facing Louisiana.
For those educators who have adopted programs we will offer evaluation and assessment services, second to none. Our multidisciplinary team will utilize the diverse faculty in the College of Human Sciences and Education to address challenges from a wide range of disciplinary lenses and perspectives. We will maintain online portals that permit practitioners to easily identify individuals that possess the expertise needed for their specific setting. Finally, we will partner with school systems across the state. These training partnerships will permit our students to tackle real-life problems and will provide a resource for schools and school systems to utilize to address local research-focused questions. We anticipate the official launch of OER for December of this year. This event will be accompanied by the release of a series of studies of the COVID-19 recovery efforts in education across the Louisiana. Stay tuned.
