CHSE Ambassador Haley Jenus
Haley is in CHSE's School of Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement Science.
Q: Why did you choose LSU?
A: My grandfather, mother, both uncles, and my cousins have attended LSU! I loved the family ties and how at home I felt. My mom’s side of the family is from New Orleans and I grew up there so it felt right to come back to the south!
Q: Why did you choose Human Movement Science as your major?
A: I played a ton of sports in high school —soccer, lacrosse, swimming, basketball—and loved the connection that kinesiology made between the human body and its athletic abilities.
Q: What are you most excited for this semester?
A: I’m really excited to start my junior year and get into my upper level classes!
Q: Why did you apply to be a CHSE Ambassador?
A: I applied to be an ambassador because I wanted to become a part of the CHSE community and I wanted to begin building my academic network. I’m a part of a sorority and I love that social aspect of my college experience and now I have ambassadors to form a new set of friends and branch out academically!
Q: What advice would you give to someone contemplating your major?
A: Do your research and make sure you can handle the course load, it looks like a lot but it is all worth it! Make sure you find someone you can use as a mentor or shadow a current PA so you can see if you like the field!
Q: What is something that surprised you about LSU or CHSE?
A: I was surprised at how quick I found a home here at LSU and CHSE!! Being from out of state the transition was not always easy but I feel perfectly settled now and could not be happier.
Q: What do you plan to do with your degree once you graduate?
A: I plan on going to PA school and will hopefully move on to be a practicing surgical orthopedic PA!
An interesting fact about me is I have a rod and two screws in my leg from a bad soccer accident.
My dream job would be a surgical PA.
My favorite LSU tradition is the chants at football games for each paly.
