This May, the New Orleans Town Gardeners honored George Washburn, an LSU College of the Coast & Environment graduate student, with their annual graduate scholarship for his academic research related to the vegetative aspects of Louisiana’s coastal preservation. Washburn is researching the survival and growth of bald cypress under abiotic stressors from climate change and restoration practices.

The New Orleans Town Gardeners is a local chapter of the Garden Club of America that encourages academic endeavors within the community that support the study and preservation of Louisiana's wetlands.

Congratulations, George!
