The College of the Coast & Environment’s (CC&E) Spring 2018 graduation ceremony was held on Friday, May 11. This occasion marked a new milestone-the largest graduating class in the history of the program with a total of 36 graduates.

A few weeks prior, the Coastal Environmental Science (CES) Undergraduate Program recognized its growth over the past decade at its 10th anniversary. The program began with less than 10 students and now boasts nearly 150 enrolled undergraduates. And, this spring’s graduation ceremony reflected the fruits of that labor: CES also graduated its largest-ever class of undergraduates with a total of 21 degrees conferred.

Speakers included: Rick Shaw, associate dean of CC&E; Jane Cassidy, senior vice provost for Human Resources and Academic Space Management; Charles Lindau, a member of the LSU Graduate Council; Kevin Armbrust, chair of the Department of Environmental Sciences; Kam-biu Liu, chair of the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences; and Vincent Wilson, director of the CES program.

Many accomplished and awarded students graduated from CC&E this semester, placing the next milestone on the road to their bright futures.
