Science Cafe March

Neil Johanssen, LSU Department of Kinesiology, will be speaking on the topic of Beyond the Treadmill: New Recommendations for Exercise at this month’s Science Cafe.

Exciting new research shows alternatives to standard exercise recommendations can offer better health outcomes. LSU Assistant Professor and Pennington Biomedical Research Center adjunct faculty member, Neil Johannsen, will present research on the impact of physical fitness on health outcomes in older adults and individuals with metabolic diseases including type 2 diabetes. He will discuss the importance of increasing physical activity through exercise to optimize health in these populations. He also will make recommendations for physical activity and exercise including the new alternatives to standard exercise recommendations.

The LSU Science Cafés are events sponsored by the LSU Office of Research & Economic Development that take place at Chelseas Cafe (2857 Perkins Rd., Baton Rouge) on the last Tuesday of each month from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Join us for an engaging conversation with an LSU professor about a particular topic of research, networking and food. Remember, people of all ages are welcome, so please spread the word and join us for a fun and informative night!
