Community Bound FAQ's
When is the last day to register?
Registration will close at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2018.
I registered, but I haven’t heard anything about it. Should I have received an email?
It’s possible that your email was entered incorrectly at registration. A couple of emails have been sent, so please check your spam folder. Reach out to us at email@example.com if you still have questions.
Can I still volunteer if I didn’t register beforehand?
Yes, you may still volunteer. Check-in at 8:30 a.m. in the Union Theater North Lobby. Bring your LSU ID Card, sturdy closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. You will be assigned a volunteer task not working directly with children.
What if I indicated on registration form “other needs “? Will they be attended to
(i.e. mobile equipped transportation, allergies noted, etc.)?
Yes. The Campus Life professional staff will review and provide accommodations.
I received an email about completing a background check. Why is that necessary?
If you wish to volunteer with children, you must successfully pass a background check through Volunteers in Public Schools. A very limited number of tasks will be available for volunteers who do not complete a background check.
I’m an International Student and I don’t have a Social Security Number required to
do the background check. What do I do?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and your Paws ID (i.e. Mtiger1, not your 89 Number).
Can I volunteer with my friends/hall/group?
Yes. We ask that students check-in together at the same station Friday morning and indicate to staff your desire to be assigned to the same school/bus. The check-in staff will accommodate if they are able. Arrive at 8:30 a.m. for the highest chance of accommodation.
I am part of sorority recruitment and recruitment events start at 2 p.m. What should
Campus Life and Greek Life have worked together to allow women participating in Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment to participate in both Community Bound and Formal Recruitment activities. Greek Life has allowed women who choose to serve in Community Bound to be excused from the 2:00pm start time and begin recruitment activities at 3:00pm. All excuses to miss recruitment activities will go through the LSU Panhellenic Director of Recruitment Registration and their schedule will be arranged correctly. Any questions and requests for a 3:00pm start should be directed to email@example.com.

What time will students arrive back to campus?
Volunteers will be back on campus no later than 1:30 p.m. There is an optional Volunteer Fair from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the LSU Student Union. We highly recommend everyone visit the fair to meet one-on-one with community partners. This is a great way to learn how one can continue to pay it forward by participating in community service opportunities throughout the year.
