Leadership LSU Class of 2018 Alison Paz

BATON ROUGE – LSU has recognized 32 students as the Class of 2018 for Leadership LSU, an annual spring program coordinated by LSU Campus Life on behalf of the LSU Office of the Dean of Students. Twenty-eight of the 32 students in the Class of 2018 for Leadership LSU are undergraduates in their senior year. Five are juniors and two are graduate students (noted in listing). Students in the class are from five states and three countries.

Cindy Nguyen a senior with a double major in biology and sociology from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Christina Bastien, a public administration graduate student from Port-au-Prince, Haiti each presented a reflection on the impact the program has had on their LSU experience.

Leadership LSU is a campus tradition during which students explore the concepts of adaptive leadership through group discussion and extracurricular lectures with LSU and community leaders. The work of adaptive leadership challenges leaders to engage others and build their own capacity to address complex social issues from within communities, rather than simply solve issues for others. The program connects a student’s leadership experience with the challenges of their future career choices. It also aims to develop a leadership network and to deepen an understanding of leadership within a larger societal context.
