Located outside of the experimental hall in the recieving area, the flycutting machine is a milling machine with leveling abilitlies within ±5 microns over a 4" diameter substrate. PMMA is the most commonly leveled material. Pre-exposed optical resists, such as SU-8, can also be milled with this machine since the area excludes UV light. Graphite can be cut to required thickness, but this subtrate can damage the cutting bit. Those who have training on this machine are required to purchase and store their own bit for any machining.
