Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program

The Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows program is open to all full-time LSU Faculty members, including those from all disciplines and academic areas across campus. We seek “academic entrepreneurs” interested in integrating an entrepreneurial mindset and related concepts, tools, and frameworks.

The goal is to foster and celebrate inter-disciplinary collaboration around creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Our focus is on the entrepreneurial mindset as a means to address community, regional, and world-wide challenges, leveraging and growing this way of thinking regardless of discipline or academic area. We approach entrepreneurship as:

  • The recognition and exploitation of opportunity, where opportunity is pursed without regard for resources controlled;
  • A process of creating value through unique resource combinations;
  • A means of empowerment and transformation through creative and innovative behaviors.

Requirements

To qualify, a faculty member, of any rank who has been at LSU for any period of time, needs to propose an initiative that reflects the interface between his or her own academic area and entrepreneurship. Proposals can center on a professional activity that the faculty member would like to pursue over the next year but should accomplish one of the following:

  • Integrates entrepreneurship into to the scholarly research in his or her home discipline
  • Grows entrepreneurship through outreach and community engagement
  • Integrates entrepreneurship courses and student programs his or her home discipline

Benefits

The benefit is the interdisciplinary fellowship that comes from interacting with a rich, intellectually gifted set of faculty members across that campus that are engaged in leading edge initiatives that connect entrepreneurial thinking and acting to a diverse mix of disciplines. In addition, some financial support is available to support the projects being pursued by the Fellows.  Further the resources of the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, including faculty and staff, network of entrepreneurs, and student consulting initiative, can be leveraged by each Fellow in support of the project they are pursuing. In addition, Fellows will be offered support to integrate entrepreneurial thinking into their current teaching and classroom initiatives.

Selection Process

Proposals will be reviewed Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute Research Director along with other distinguished faculty members who have been engaged with entrepreneurship across LSU’s campus.
