Why did you choose professional sales?
During my junior year, Greg Accardo gave a presentation on the PSI concentration. He opened my eyes to the truth that graduating with a marketing degree would not guarantee me a job. That thought scared me and caused me to be honest about what I planned to do for the rest of my life. I knew that by joining the PSI program, I would be able to put myself ahead of my peers in the job market by sharpening my skills and outperforming others in the real world.

How did the Professional Sales Institute help with your career?
By joining the PSI program and Professional Sales Team, I was equipped with the knowledge and skills that I needed to succeed and make an immediate impact on a company’s bottom line. My confidence and people skills were boosted as well.

What do you like most about your career?
I like the commission checks, the unlimited earning potential, the autonomy that comes with outside sales, and the ability to help improve other people’s lives and jobs with my product.

What are your job responsibilities?
Prospecting for new business; cold calling door-to-door and on the phone; setting appointments; meeting with key decision makers; finding pain points and persuading customers to make a change; establishing and developing relationships with gatekeepers and administrators; following up and closing sales; training personnel on equipment; filling out installation forms, delivery forms, and commission paperwork

What advice do you have for PSI students?
I would tell those who are still in their junior/senior year to be ready because after you walk across that stage, the fun is over. Do not expect a glamorous job coming out of college. You must start at the bottom and work your way up to be successful in sales and life. Be ready to keep your head down and outwork everyone. One more thing to remember when getting into sales, always be enthusiastic and never let the hard times keep you down; your biggest sale might be around the corner.

Why did you choose professional sales?
I decided to go into professional sales because it is the only profession where I can truly compete, no two days are ever the same, and I have the chance to interact with C-level executives on a daily basis.

How did the Professional Sales Institute help with your career?
PSI helped my career in a few ways. First, recognition — PSI exposed me to countless companies and gave me the ability to have a choice when selecting an employer. Second, I got the majority of my training while I was in school rather than waiting until I was out of school to get trained. I felt much more prepared to go into my new role after participating in the PSI.

What advice do you have for PSI students?
I would tell PSI students to participate in the competitions. It gets employers’ attention and puts the choice of a future job in your hands.

When I started my career, I wish someone told me… to not be afraid to ask the difficult questions. Once you get comfortable in your role, you realize that asking difficult questions is key to being successful in sales.

What would you say to employers who are considering PSI students for internships or full-time employment?
I would tell future employers to continue investing in these students. The talent is only getting better as sales competitions and PSI programming continue to grow.

Why did you choose professional sales?
I wanted a career path that would challenge me to grow my skill set and get me out of my comfort zone. I also wanted a career that would directly reward hard work with compensation.

How did the Professional Sales Institute help with your career?
PSI provided me with the skill set to cold call accounts and develop opportunities. Every customer is different, but all opportunities fall into a similar sales cycle based on the foundation I learned through PSI. When I entered the workforce, I started with many people who had years of sales experience. PSI gave me the skills to hold my own.

What advice do you have for PSI students?
Soak up all of the opportunities that you have to learn while you are in college. Accept as many internships and sales competitions as you can. This is your opportunity to learn how to sell with nothing on the line. Use this time to ramp up your skills to be prepared for your sales career.

When I started my career, I wish someone told me… not to worry so much about being successful.  Success comes with hard work. In sales, you will experience a lot of objections and a lot of rejections, but there is no reason to worry. Persistence is key. The more people you call, the more likely you are to find an opportunity.

What would you say to employers who are considering PSI students for internships or full-time employment?
I would say that they have the opportunity to hire highly trained sales individuals. Students in the PSI program have all the skills to run opportunities from cold call to close.

Why did you choose professional sales?
I enjoy helping others while challenging myself because not one day is the same as another in the sales industry.

How did the Professional Sales Institute help with your career?
PSI gave me real-world experience before beginning my career. I was able to develop my sales skills by learning the sales process and practicing through role play, which happens to be something that my company finds very important and still implements.

What advice do you have for PSI students?
My advice to PSI students is to get involved and give it your all. The skills you will learn will set you apart in your career and will make you more confident while selling.

When I started my career, I wish someone told me... what a huge role sales plays in every aspect of a business.

What would you say to employers who are considering PSI students for internships or full-time employment?
PSI students are knowledgeable and far more prepared because they are challenging themselves by getting real-world experience before entering the sales force.

Why did you choose professional sales?
I decided to go into professional sales when I evaluated all of the aspects that were important to me when looking for a job. I wanted flexibility, uncapped earnings, and the opportunity to work as a team, as well as on my own. Professional sales allowed me to have all of these aspects in one job.

How did the Professional Sales Institute help with your career?
The Professional Sales Institute tremendously helped my career by preparing me to conquer tasks in sales, such as cold calling, maintaining relationships, and closing deals. The Professional Sales Institute, along with Greg Accardo, also helped me get an interview with CMA Technology Solutions, which lead to the amazing job I have now!

What advice do you have for PSI students?
The best advice I could give PSI students is nothing comes easy. You have to work long hours, and it’s going to be tough at first, but if you put in the effort, the rewards are that much sweeter. No matter how hard the job gets, push through, and amazing things will happen!

When I started my career, I wish someone would have told me… that if you put in the hours and stay determined, you will be successful and it will all pay off. You don’t have to stress your life away. Everything is going to be okay.

What would you say to employers who are considering PSI students for internships or full-time employment? Employers should know they are getting an advanced, well-trained, and determined employee. The Professional Sales Institute preps each student for a successful career in sales by allowing students to learn from real life sales calls and competitions. They break down the sales cycle and train on each aspect, making sure each student is exceptional at every level.
