Tolliver, Students Honored with Public Administration Awards

BATON ROUGE - The LSU Department of Public Administration announced Jason Rex Tolliver as its 2020 Master of Public Administration Alumnus of the Year.
Jason Rex Tolliver is the vice chancellor of student affairs for University of Illinois at Chicago. Appointed in 2017, he provides leadership to more than 1,000 team members as they reimagine the student experience at UIC. As the Chief Student Affairs Officer on the campus, Rex provides guidance to the Dean of Students Office, Auxiliary Services, Student Centers, Campus Housing, Career Services, the Center for Student Involvement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Counseling Center, Financial Aid, the Center for Academic Excellence, and the UIC Forum and Pavilion to name a few. Tolliver holds a Bachelor of Science in finance (’00) and a Master of Public Administration (’04) from LSU.
The Department of Public Administration also selected two outstanding students to receive the David B. Johnson and Astrid Merget Awards.
Macee Spencer, an MPA student from Denham Springs, LA, received the David B. Johnson Student Achievement Award. The award recognizes a student who displays outstanding academic, community, and professional service in the MPA program.
Antoine Pierce, also an MPA student from Baton Rouge, LA, was given the Astrid Merget Award. This award honors a student’s commitment to public service and citizenship, as well as the memory of Merget and her contributions to the LSU MPA program.
