BATON ROUGE – LSU has recognized 28 students as the Class of 2019 for Leadership LSU, an annual spring program which is coordinated by LSU Campus Life on behalf of the LSU Office of the Dean of Students.

Now in its 30th year as an LSU tradition, the program provides juniors, seniors and graduate students with the opportunity to develop and apply their leadership at high levels while in their final semesters at LSU. Participants chosen for Leadership LSU 2019 exhibit the capacity to learn and impact others positively through their leadership experiences. Active participation in Leadership LSU challenges students to sharpen leadership skills and abilities, regardless of their career choices and plans following graduation.

The luncheon to honor the participants of Leadership LSU Class of 2019 took place on Saturday, April 6, where each student cohort was recognized for their commitment to leadership. Among the Leadership LSU Class of 2019 there were 20 seniors, six juniors and two graduate students who came to the program from five different states.

During the luncheon the Robert Beverly Pancake Memorial Scholarship was awarded to the student who exemplified what it meant to be a leader. Andrew Chenevert was the recipient of the scholarship for the Leadership LSU Class of 2019.

The curriculum of Leadership LSU is based in the concept of adaptive leadership through group discussion as well as extracurricular lectures with LSU and community leaders. By the end of the Leadership LSU program students have learned how to identify adaptive leadership challenges, address social issues with the community, recognize the opportunities that come from an adaptive leadership experience and support the Leadership LSU peer network.
