Educational Offerings for the Business Community through the E. J. Ourso College of Business

BATON ROUGE - The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business offers educational programs for the business community as part of its strategic initiatives to foster economic development, promote entrepreneurship, and fill the growing needs of business. Below is a list of the current offerings.
Tax Seminar (Jan. 3 & 4) – The Department of Accounting will present the annual Tax Seminar featuring James R. Hasselback, Ph.D. from Florida Southern College. A member of the American Accounting Association and the American Taxation Association, he has published over 150 papers in professional and academic journals, including The Accounting Review, The Tax Advisor, Financial Management, Journal of Real Estate Taxation, and the American Business Law Journal.
· The Qualified Business Income Deduction (Jan. 3, 2019) – This seminar covers the newly qualified business income deduction along with the proposed regulations. The topics to be covered include Qualified Pass-through Entities, Qualified Business Income, W-2 Wages, Qualified Property and many others.
· 2018 Federal Income Tax Update (Jan. 4, 2019) - This seminar provides tax practitioners with an update of current federal tax developments affecting tax returns for the coming tax season. The primary focus is on new and pending legislation, IRS interpretations, and recent court decisions on tax laws.
Public-Private Partnerships (Jan. 7) – The Department of Finance will present the second annual Public-Private Partnership Symposium co-hosted by ULI Louisiana and the Real Estate Research Institute at LSU. This symposium attracts professionals from all corners of the industry and provides a valuable opportunity to facilitate new partnerships with industry peers and public sector partners. Attendees will learn how to manage their ownership strategies and capital stacks to create the appropriate structure and returns for their stakeholders from seasoned professionals with experience in these fields and will participate in interactive panels discussion tailored explicitly to the needs of public agencies evaluating P3s.
Disney’s Approach to Business Excellence (April 16) Presented by Disney Institute and hosted by LSU Executive Education - Share in the powerful lessons developed by Walt Disney Parks & Resorts in the continual pursuit of excellence with regards to leadership and employee excellence, employee engagement, exceptional customer experience and sustaining business results. Together, these elements forge an enduring bond between inspired leaders, motivated employees, satisfied customers and an organization's ability to reinvent and grow the brand continually. During this course, you’ll start to think differently—outside the constraints of old frameworks. When you adapt Disney’s insights to fit your organizational needs, you'll gain the tools to make a positive impact and see results that you can sustain. Executive Development Program (Feb. 4-6 and March 18-20) - This comprehensive, six-day program combines executive coaching, self-assessment, experiential learning, and much more to prepare leaders to meet their present organization’s needs while still focusing on developing solutions to the challenges of tomorrow. Primary objectives include preparing individuals to assume broader, general leadership responsibilities, stimulating an awareness of the environment in which his or her organization operates and the factors that determine its success or failure, and presenting a framework of practical concepts and philosophies for immediate application in the workplace. EBV Accelerate for Military Veterans (Feb. 11-22 online, March 12-14 residency) - EBV Accelerate is a 3-phase boot camp-style program that gives military veterans who have been in business for at least three years the tools and coaching to propel their business to the next phase: sustainable growth. Topics will include acquiring growth funding, rebranding for expansion, determining a sustainable growth rate, establishing partnerships, managing cash flow, and much more. Rising Stars Program (April 8-10) - This three-day highly interactive program is designed to groom high potential employees for professional growth. This program helps organizations improve employee retention, support the growth and development of its’ employees, develop a pipeline of future leaders, and much more. Register at executive.lsu.edu
Certified Credit Analyst Program (Six monthly modules beginning Jan. 24) - The Department of Finance in collaboration with the Louisiana Bankers Association has developed a six-month training and certification program for new hires in banking or experienced bankers transitioning into lending positions. Based mainly on American Bankers Association materials, attendees will learn from LSU faculty and industry professionals in the classroom and mentors back at their home banks between sessions about what it means to be a credit analyst in today’s banking world.
Project Management Certification (Jan. 28-31) - This course is an intensive four-day PMI Project Management Professional Certification Prep course designed to prepare one for the Project Management Institute’s PMP Certification exam. This course is an excellent choice for project managers wishing to complete a certification review course in a concentrated period. This course meets PMI’s 35 educational hour requirement for PMP certification and covers knowledge tested as well as provides certification exam testing tips and techniques to help you achieve a passing accreditation score. Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification Program (online) – CFP Certification is a nationally and internationally recognized professional certification offered through the CFP® Board. Certified financial planner Board of Standards Inc. awards the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification to individuals who fulfill initial and ongoing certification requirements. Those requirements include satisfying the educational requirements, completing a minimum of three years of work experience in a financial planning field and passing the CFP Certification Examination.

Academic Certificate Programs
Graduate Certificate in Analytics (online) - The Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems offers an online graduate certificate in analytics. The purpose of this certificate is to respond to the need for retraining professionals, scientists, and researchers in the use of big data and to provide credentials for having completed a set of related courses. This certificate provides working professionals with the skills needed to understand and use available technology to gain insights into data. The objective of this new certificate program is to train nontraditional students, enhancing their career opportunities and increasing their productivity in industry and government.
A minimum grade-point average of 3.0 in the four analytics courses (12 hours) listed below is necessary to earn a Graduate Certificate in Analytics. Each class is taught online for seven weeks and earns three credit hours. Admission to the graduate school is required and an introductory course in statistics and information systems is recommended before enrolling in the course sequence.
Academic Online Programs
MBA (online) – The LSU online Flores MBA Program gives experienced professionals the opportunity to leap ahead in the competitive business landscape. Covering core topics like marketing and finance as well as new, emerging and challenging fields like analytics and international management, the online MBA provides students with an advanced understanding of current industry trends and strong expertise in the fundamentals of businesses. Online courses are delivered in immersive, seven-weeklong intervals. The program can be completed in as few as 18 months.
Professional MBA (evening and online classes) - The Professional MBA (PMBA) format generally attracts professionals early in their career who are seeking career advancement opportunity, and who require advanced business knowledge and skills to make themselves more competitive in their marketplace. The PMBA format consists of applicants from diverse industries and roles all-around the greater Baton Rouge area. This arrangement provides students with professional advancement with no career interruption and opportunities to participate in international study trips each year
Executive MBA (Friday/Saturday and online classes) - Advanced business knowledge, global experiences, and a diverse network of peers are just some of the reasons why our executive MBA track is an attractive way to earn your MBA. This EMBA track is an alternate-weekend MBA program for working professionals that offers a mixture of face-to-face interaction and online curriculum. Tuition for this route includes books, parking, meals, and two, one-week international study trips. A unique aspect of our EMBA program is that we offer executive coaching to all our students. If you are interested in developing your leadership skills with an executive coach, you can schedule 4-6 coaching sessions over 12 months while enrolled in the program.
