Dean's Advisory Council Member and Former LSU Basketball Player Rick Wolfert Passes Away

BATON ROUGE - Dean's Advisory Council member and former LSU basketball player, Frederick “Rick” Eugene Wolfert, died April 9 in Greensboro, Georgia. Wolfert was born Aug. 3, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was 64.
Rick was a member of the LSU basketball team from 1972-1975 and earned a BS in business administration in 1976. After graduating from LSU, Wolfert had a long and successful career in commercial finance, holding executive-level roles with several companies including his own commercial finance company which he named “Tygris” in honor of his LSU experience.
Rick joined the E. J. Ourso College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council in 1999. He was inducted into the college’s Hall of Distinction in 2001 and co-chaired the capital campaign for the Business Education Complex. Rick also served as a board member for the LSU Foundation.
He was also involved in several more boards and foundations in Greensboro, Georgia, including Foundation Chairman for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital leading the campaign for the building for the new hospital in Greensboro.
Rick met his wife, Holly, during their sophomore year at LSU. Wolfert is survived by his daughter, Maggie Brady and son-in-law, Vince Brady; his son, Paul and daughter-in-law Hannah Wolfert; brother, Steve Wolfert and sister-in-law, Valinda Wolfert, sister, Karen Cheek and brother-in-law, Dave Cheek; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Rick’s life on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Oconee Church in Greensboro, Georgia. Rick will be interred at Resthaven Gardens in Baton Rouge on April 20. Additional details and full obituary are available online.
