BATON ROUGE - Professor Emeritus William C. Black has been awarded the 2019 Doctoral Educator’s Award from the Southeast Marketing Symposium member Universities, which include Florida State University, Louisiana State University, The University of Memphis, Mississippi State University, The University of Alabama, The University of Arkansas, The University of Georgia, The University of Kentucky, The University of Mississippi, and the University of Tennessee. The award recognizes those individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to marketing doctoral education during their careers.

“For the past 20 years, Professor William C. Black has been the backbone of our PhD program, teaching three PhD seminars - Structural Equation Modeling, Multivariate Statistics and Marketing Management,” said Ronald W. Niedrich, chair of the Department of Marketing. “Remarkably, he served on more than 60 dissertation committees and was the marketing department PhD advisor for four years. Professor Black is truly deserving of this award, and I am very pleased to see him recognized for his many contributions.”

Deserving recipients can be nominated by colleagues, students, or SMS institution administrators before each year’s SMS conference. A subcommittee of SMS program coordinators evaluates received nominations and makes recommendations to the collective SMS coordinator group for final action. SMS Doctoral Educator Award recipients are recognized during the upcoming SMS conference.

Black is an emeritus faculty member of LSU.
