Slawson Receives Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award

BATON ROUGE – LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business faculty member Carlos Slawson has been named a recipient of the 2018 Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award, which is presented by LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.

Slawson, the Latter & Blum Professor of Real Estate in the Department of Finance, was recognized during the LSU - University of Arkansas baseball game on Sunday, May 6. He was selected for his passion, dedication and work ethic.

“Jacobs is one of the world’s largest technical, professional and construction service providers,” said Kenneth O. Miles, assistant vice chancellor and executive director of the Cox Communications Center. “Dr. Slawson’s credentials align with Jacob’s competencies: customer focus, business insight, drive vision and purpose, cultivate innovation and technical competency.”

“It is humbling to receive this award,” said Slawson. “It has been a tremendous pleasure to work in our LSU community alongside exceptional students, dedicated employers, brilliant faculty, faithful staff, big-hearted alumni and devoted friends.”

Slawson has been with LSU since 1995, serving as chair of the finance department from 2007 to 2015.
