BATON ROUGE - We caught up with 2018 Business College Council President Joey Impastato. Learn more about this finance major and his advice for students.
Hometown: Madisonville, Louisiana
How did you become involved with the Business College Council?
I had been involved with the LSU Student Government for two years in both Student Senate and the executive branch, and for my last year, I wanted to try something different. By running for Business College Council president, I thought I would be able to improve students’ experiences in my own college, so it made sense for me.
How does the BCC serve business students?
The Business College Council facilitates events for all students of the college and also serves as a line of communication between students, student government, faculty and staff.
Do you have advice for incoming students?
My advice would be to get as involved as you can early on and to have as many good experiences as possible. There is never a better time to try new things than as a freshman. I would also say to enjoy it because time flies by.
What are you looking forward to this year?
I am very excited about putting on all of the new events our council has been working on, and also enjoying and making the most of my senior year. I am also looking forward to winning the national championship in basketball this year.
Favorite spot on campus?
Tiger Stadium. Is there any other acceptable answer?
How will this leadership opportunity shape your career?
I think this opportunity will give me valuable experience in planning, project management, networking, and communication that will be very beneficial as I start my career.
