LSU Public Administration Institute Earns NASPAA Accreditation

August 21, 2018

BATON ROUGE – The Public Administration Institute, a part of LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, met the high standards for continued accreditation by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA). The program received full reaccreditation through 2024.

NASPAA accreditation is the peer-review quality assurance process for graduate-level, master’s degree programs in public policy, affairs and administration. Accredited programs must contribute to the knowledge, research and practice of public service; establish observable goals and outcomes and use information about their performance to guide program improvement.

“We are pleased to be fully accredited by NASPAA,” said PAI Director Jared Llorens. “Our faculty are passionate about advancing scholarship in the field of public administration and preparing our Master of Public Administration students for rewarding careers. Their commitment coupled with the success of our alumni helped to ensure our reaccreditation. The site visit team had praise for our students; they were impressed to learn that so many of our alumni are serving in top positions both locally and nationally.”

In a letter announcing the program’s reaccreditation, Jeffrey L. Osgood Jr., chair of the NASPAA Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation, stated, “By pursuing and achieving accreditation through a rigorous peer review, your program has demonstrated a substantial commitment to quality public service education.”
