May 24, 2018

BATON ROUGE – Five students from the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business were among those selected for Securities America’s Link to the Future scholarship which will enable them to attend the organization’s national conference to be held in New Orleans, June 3-6.

Samuel Chastain of Baton Rouge; Adam Karrigan of Metairie, La.; Brandon Mohammadi of Metairie, La.; Anthony Morales of Covington, La. and Jake Pace of Baton Rouge were among the 30 college students selected through a competitive application process. The scholarship is designed to inspire students to pursue careers in the financial advice industry.

“Link to the Future is a crucial part of Securities America’s effort to address the question of where the next generation of advisors will come from, but it’s also much more than that,” said Janine Wertheim, Securities America senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

“By leveraging the energy, expertise and drive of our advisors themselves,” she continued, “Link to the Future will enable us to forge new relationships with rising college students who have a passion for building their businesses and making a positive difference in people’s lives through sound financial guidance.”

Through the scholarship, Securities America covers all expenses for the Connect Conference. Scholarship recipients will network with professionals, attend general sessions and take part in specifically-designed breakout sessions and workshops developed to inspire and inform their careers. Targeted sessions will focus on the basics of financial planning, FINRA exams, résumé building and other professional development topics.
