BATON ROUGE - The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business was ranked No. 3 on a list of the “50 Most Beautiful Business Schools” compiled by TopManagementDegrees.com, a guide to business and management education.

The E. J. Ourso College of Business was ranked behind the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis and the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business (No. 47) is the only other school from the Southeastern Conference to make the list.

Classes were first held in the LSU’s Business Education Complex (BEC) in the fall of 2012. When it opened, the structure was the largest public/private capital project in LSU’s history with $30 million in private financing matched by $30 million from the State of Louisiana.

Ikon.5 Architects, a New Jersey-based firm, and Coleman Partners Architects in Baton Rouge were selected to design the BEC. According to the designer’s statement, “The E. J. Ourso College of Business is a glass and steel ‘academic village’ for business education. The courtyard site plan and building forms are contextual – recalling the sloped roof pavilions and arcaded courtyards of the adjacent historic campus. To illustrate a forward-looking aesthetic that embodies the mission of the school, which is to generate business innovation in Louisiana and the Gulf region, these traditional architectural forms are constructed of contemporary materials and details.”

The BEC's previous design honors include The American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Chapter 2013 Rose Award and the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects AIA Merit Award.
