BATON ROUGE – LSU professional sales students turned in impressive performances in a pair of competitions that provide real-world experience and access to potential employers.
LSU marketing majors Lindsey Humphrey of Shreveport, La.; Lauren Olivier of Lafayette,
La. and Connor Stampley of Baton Rouge made their collegiate sales competition debut
at the 2017 Great Northwood Sales Warmup held Oct. 18-20, 2017 at the University of
Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Competitors prepared two 20-minute sales presentations — one
for a product and one for a service. The pitches were judged by a team of sales managers
acting as buyers. Olivier, a sophomore and LSU’s top competitor, placed 14th out of
60 students. The competition also allowed students to meet with prospective employers.
“I would recommend the Great Northwood Sales Warmup to any student pursuing a career
in sales,” said Olivier. “This was my first sales competition, and I am beyond thankful
for the experience. Not only was I able to walk away with new sales skills, but also
new networking connections and internship offers.”
Senior marketing majors Jack Chascin, Mandeville, La., and Patrick Derbes, Lafayette,
La., represented LSU in the role-play competition at Florida State University’s International
Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC) held Nov. 1-4, 2017. The competition was based
on the potential sale of a desktop virtualization software to an internal staffing
company. With a field of 70 teams, LSU team finished 11th overall.
“The LSU Sales Team competed in two collegiate sale competitions this fall with great
results, and a fantastic foundation for continued success in 2018,” said Greg Accardo,
director of the LSU Professional Sales Institute. “As the success of the individual
competitors shines through, so too does the prestige of the LSU Professional Sales
Institute as a leader in sales education. Companies from across the country now seek
out our students to fill critical professional sales roles.”
