LSU PSI to Stage Second Annual Golf Tournament

BATON ROUGE – The LSU Professional Sales Institute will host its second annual golf tournament on Friday, April 21 at LSU Golf Course with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The format is an 18-hole, four-person scramble and prizes will be awarded for first place, closest to the hole on three par-3s, and more. Lunch and an awards ceremony will follow the tournament at Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar at 3838 Burbank Drive.

The event is more than just a golf tournament, however, said PSI Director Greg Accardo. It’s also an important opportunity for students within the LSU Department of Marketing’s professional sales concentration to gain real-world sales experience.

“The PSI Golf Tournament serves two goals – students engage in ‘real-world’ sales before graduating, and companies and students have the opportunity to network and discuss professional sales careers,” Accardo said.

Indeed, students are split into groups in the months prior to the event and tasked with selling tournament sponsorships – giving them valuable experience and interactions with industry representatives. In addition, each four-person team in the tournament is made up of three sponsors and one student.
