Accounting PhD Students Meet Editor of Top-Tier Journal

BATON ROUGE – During a visit to Tulane University, PhD students from LSU’s Department of Accounting had the opportunity to meet with Mark DeFond, editor of The Accounting Review. The students – Russell Barber, Pradeep Sapkota, Dan Shaw, JC White, Stephanie Merrell and JP Park – were there for a workshop presentation by DeFond and met with him separately following the presentation.

They were accompanied by accounting faculty members Christine Cheng, PhD advisor Ken Reichelt and Jared Soileau.

DeFond is the A. N. Mosich Chair in accounting and professor of accounting at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. He is widely published and one of the 25 most cited authors in accounting. In addition to his role as editor of The Accounting Review, he serves on the editorial boards of several leading academic journals. He has also been the recipient of several research awards, including the Notable Contribution to Auditing Literature Award and the Mellon Award for Excellence in Mentoring Faculty.
