Richardson, Economists Advise Legislature on Budget Fix
March 11, 2015
BATON ROUGE - Economics Professor James Richardson is part of a group of economists working on a project called the Louisiana Tax Study, an examination of the state's taxing structure. The group has been charged by the Louisiana Legislature with producing long-term solutions.
While the final report is still to come, on Tuesday, the group did suggest several legislative moves that could raise $800 million immediately, including raising the cigarette tax and rolling back inventory taxes.
