BATON ROUGE
– Bulent Unel, associate professor in the E. J. Ourso College of Business Department of Economics, recently authored a paper accepted by the B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy. His paper, “Human Capital Formation and International Trade,” develops a two-country, two-sector model of trade where the only difference between two countries is the cost of human capital formation.

“It is shown that this difference completely shapes the pattern of trade,” Unel said. “Trade, in turn, affects the distribution of human capital both at extensive and intensive margins, income distribution and welfare in each country.”

The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy welcomes submissions that employ microeconomics to analyze issues in business, consumer behavior and public policy.
