External Relations serves the E. J. Ourso College of Business in a variety of ways. Primarily, we are responsible for the overall strategy and management of the college’s branding, public relations, publications, website design and content, rankings, media relations and communications.
The college is home to seven departments, five centers and institutes, two research groups and numerous programs and initiatives. These entities rely upon External Relations for the production and dissemination of press releases, brochures, fliers, broadcast emails, placed advertising, materials for special events, and other items as needed. Additionally, we manage two e-newsletters (Ourso On the Geaux! and The Ourso Experience), produce videos, and update the college’s social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, ISSUU, Instagram and LinkedIn).
Throughout the course of a year, numerous college-sponsored events are hosted on- and off-site. External Relations organizes, coordinates, or assists in putting on most of these events. This is especially true of the college’s annual Hall of Distinction Banquet; Dean’s Advisory Council semi-annual meetings; and awards ceremonies.
External Relations serves as the liaison between the media and the faculty and staff of the E. J. Ourso College. Anyone wishing to conduct interviews with a college employee is asked to contact External Relations, which has identified faculty and staff who are willing to provide their expert opinions. Additionally, working with External Relations will ensure more exposure for stories via the college’s numerous outlets.
External Relations is responsible for the production of all printed and digital items produced and specialty items ordered by the E. J. Ourso College, including all of its departments, centers, and institutes. Working with External Relations guarantees that final products conform to both college and university standards. From writing, editing, and design, to distribution, External Relations will guide you through the entire process of producing a quality piece in as efficient a manner as possible.
External Relations produces a monthly e-newsletter—Ourso on the Geaux!—and a weekly, student-aimed enewsletter—The Ourso Experience. Anyone wishing to subscribe to Ourso on the Geaux! is asked to email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use “Subscribe: Ourso on the Geaux!” as the subject.
Website & Social Media
External Relations maintains the E. J. Ourso College’s website. Much of its content is provided by the college’s faculty, students, and student organizations. Faculty members can update their individual pages on the website at any time by updating Digital Measures. External Relations continuously updates the website with press releases and event information. Social media is an important aspect of what External Relations does as well. Links to the college’s social media pages can be found throughout the website.
To ensure that you continuously receive current information, and to let us know what great accomplishments you have achieved, make sure you update your information and tell us your story! This will allow us to make sure you get invitations to alumni events, receive our publications, and share your triumphs with every other Tiger!
