MBA Energy Specialization

The E. J. Ourso College of Business has set a standard for outstanding undergraduate education by developing students who are innovative and ready to contribute to the bottom line of corporations. Through a new Flores MBA specialization, the E. J. Ourso College wants to prepare students whose focus lies, or may lie, on the energy industry.

  • Flores MBA students choose from electives that include an overview course, as well as classes in mineral rights, energy law, finance, and analytics.
  • To graduate with a specialization in energy, students must complete nine hours from the following courses:
    ENVS 4261; ISDS 7150; LAW 5205; LAW 5220; FIN 7400; BADM 7170; or a faculty advisor-approved energy elective.
  • Students must have a 3.0 GPA in the courses used to satisfy the specialization. All nine hours must be taken on LSU’s campus.
  • Students will also be provided a wide range of learning opportunities, including site visits, access to speakers in the industry, case competitions, energy conferences and expos, and industry-related internships.

Why Specialize in Energy?

  • Distinguish yourself from other students, not only here, but in the workplace.
  • Learn unique energy-based skillsets through academic and practical coursework.
  • Secure internships and employment opportunities in the world’s most vital industry.
