Welcome to the E. J. Ourso College of Business

Dean Richard White head shot

Richard White Jr., Dean

As Louisiana’s flagship college of business, we uplift the economy of the state and the lives of its citizens. We rely on innovation and excellence to fulfill this mission.

“Business as usual” isn’t good enough.

Our Office of Business Student Success (OBSS) changed the way that we support students. Located on the second floor of the Business Education Complex Rotunda, OBSS is the headquarters for services like academic counseling, career coaching, diversity and inclusion programs, and international studies. Centralizing these services goes beyond convenience; co-location aids collaboration, allowing a more holistic approach to student success. As we mark the office’s first anniversary, we are proud of our progress and know that the best is yet to come.

To meet evolving needs and interests, we now offer minors in analytics and international business. These minors will provide a competitive edge in the job market and are open to any LSU student.

Innovation is the name of the game when it comes to our entrepreneurship program. This spring we received the university’s Excellence in Innovation award for the creation of our Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. We recently celebrated the degree program’s first graduates. We are also partnering with the Young Entrepreneurs’ Academy of Baton Rouge to bring entrepreneurship education to area high schoolers.

We launched LSU Connect, a networking platform for E. J. Ourso College alumni. Using technology, we’ve connected graduates from around the world.

Along with innovation, we are committed to excellence.

The Master of Science in Finance and Master of Public Administration degrees continue to be ranked among the top programs in the nation.

Joni Shreve, an instructor in the Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems, received the 2018 SAS Distinguished Professor award.

The world seeks out our faculty for its expertise. Thomas Greckhamer, a professor in the Rucks Department of Management, and Naci Mocan, an economics professor, were keynote speakers at recent international conferences. Andrew Schwarz, a professor in the Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems, was an author of a paper honored by The Data Base for Advances in Information Systems.

Our students claimed first place in the 2018 SEC MBA Case Competition.

Erin Kilpatrick became the second accounting graduate to win the AICPA’s prestigious Elijah Watt Sells Award in as many years. I’ve challenged our accounting students and faculty to continue this impressive streak.

As I recount our accomplishments, I am reminded of the support from our many donors, corporate partners, and volunteers. Thank you. If you want to support our mission, please consider offering internship and employment opportunities to business students or investing in the college.

Geaux Tigers!
