Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The GMAT allows prospective graduate students to showcase the skills that matter most in business school and beyond. The exam lasts 3.5 hours and focuses on four testing sections: analytical writing, integrated reasoning, quantitative, and verbal.

The E.J. Ourso College of Business requires that all prospective MBA, MAcc, PhD Accounting, MS Finance, PhD Finance, PhD ISDS, PhD Management and PhD Marketing students take the GMAT for admissions consideration. Prospective MS Analytics students may take either the GMAT or GRE. A minimum GMAT score of 600 is preferred for most programs.

Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)

The GRE features question types that reflect the thinking and skills you need to succeed in graduate and business school programs. The exam lasts approximately 4 hours and focuses on three sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing.

The E.J. Ourso College of Business requires that all prospective MPA, MS Economics and PhD Economics students take the GRE for admissions consideration. Prospective MS Analytics students may take either the GMAT or GRE. The Department of Economics requires a minimum GRE score of 300.

Please use ETS institution code 6373 when submitting scores to LSU. The Department of Accounting does not accept the GRE.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

The TOEFL iBT test measures prospective students ability to use and understand English at the university level. The test session lasts approximately 4.5 hours and covers four sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

The E.J. Ourso College of Business requires that all international applicants take either the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based) is preferred for graduate admissions consideration.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The IELTS Academic Test assesses whether a prospective student is ready to begin studying or training in an English speaking environment by reflecting features of academic language. The test lasts approximately 3 hours and covers four sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

The E.J. Ourso College of Business requires that all international applicants take either the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE. A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is preferred for graduate admissions consideration.

Pearson Test of English (PTE)

The PTE Academic Test assesses real-life academic content while exposing test takers to a range of accents they may encounter in everyday life. The test lasts 3 hours and covers four sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

The E.J. Ourso College of Business requires that all international applicants take either the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE. A minimum PTE Academic score of 59 is preferred for graduate admissions consideration.
