Two graduate students place in national competition
Sam Rustom, a doctoral weed science student won first place for his presentation at the Weed Science Society of America conference in New Orleans recently.
Rustom’s winning talk in the oral presentation category was “Florpyrauxifen-benzyl Activity on Common Aquatic Weeds in Louisiana Rice.” Rustom is from Greenwood, Mississippi.
Another doctoral student, David Walker, won third place with his oral presentation, “Evaluation of Soybean Tolerance to Off-Target LoyantTM (florpyrauxifen-benzyl) Deposition.” Walker is from Maryville, Tennessee.
The two students, both studying under Dr. Eric Webster, LSU AgCenter weed scientist, competed against students from across the U.S. and Canada.
