Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA) Internship

SUSTA is one of four non-profit State Regional Trade Groups that promotes U.S. food and agricultural exports. It is funded by USDA/Foreign Agricultural Services. The agency facilitates trade between small to medium-sized southern U.S. companies and overseas importers. Since 1973, SUSTA has worked with the States Departments of Agriculture of the 15 southers states and Puerto Rico to promote the export of high-value food and agricultural products.

SUSTA seeks an intern to start in Fall 2017 and help recruit companies within the state of Louisiana to participate in SUSTA Brand Promotion and International Marketing programs. The intern's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: recruiting, research, education and outreach, marketing, development and management of activities, trade leads and other efforts assisting companies in international support activities related to the FAS/SUSTA Market Access Program. The intern shall participate in internet training sessions provided by SUSTA. This position requires a commitment of 10-20 hours a week. The pay rate is $10/hour.


Junior or senior majoring in Agribusiness or related major

Strong written and oral communication skills

Willingness to learn and take initiative on projects

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)

Experience in marketing or sales preferred

Must be a U.S. citizen or have a visa that permits the individual to work.
