Save the Date: Agritourism Workshops

 2017 Agritourism Safety Management Workshop

How to identify risks, protect your enterprises and become a certified operator

Two workshops in Arcadia and Albany.           Pre-registration required by February 28, 2017.

Agriculture and tourism are among the top three industries in Louisiana, making agritourism a natural industry for the state. Farmers, ranchers and landowners interested in agritourism activities are exposed to business risk, and health liabilities. The Agritourism Limited Liability Law (RS 9:2795.4) was passed in 2008 to limit the liability of agritourism professionals. The law is voluntary and requires agritourism operators to complete a safety plan known as a plan of operation.

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to walk through agritourism enterprises with a safety specialist, review safety plans and practices as well as emergency preparedness and safety record keeping. Attendees will also receive pointers on how to use social media to advertise their business and information on how to become a certified agritourism operator.
