Troy D. Allen
Professor of African American Studies
Dr. Troy Allen served as an adjunct professor in the LSU Department of African American Studies as well as a history professor at Southern University. His passion impacted the lives of many.
Professor Allen wrote many noteworthy articles on race and African American studies and was featured in the Journal of Black Studies and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He was also the author of “The Ancient Egyptian Family Kinship and Social Structure” (NY: Routledge, 2014).
Dr. Allen was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Point Park University in Pennsylvania in 1990. He then earned his Master of Arts in Black Studies and Black Community Development from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University.
