National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity

As part of university’s continued mission, we have recently obtained an institutional membership to the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD).The NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community of faculty, postdocs, and graduate students from over 450 colleges and universities. In addition to the resources available to you as an institutional member, the center also offers professional development training and intensive mentoring programs.

Faculty Fellows

The Office of Academic Affairs in conjunction with the Learning and Teaching Collaborative (LTC) is pleased to announce the launch of the LTC Faculty Fellows program along with the list of fellows for 2020-2021. Sponsored by LSU Online, the Faculty Fellows program was created to provide increased support for faculty aiming to enhance student learning and performance.

Classroom Observations

A classroom observation is a great way to get feedback on your class from a student perspective.  An LTC member will sit in on your class and then meet with you to discuss their observations. They will provide their perspective of your class, review the students' reactions to the material that you presented, identify your strengths, and suggest ideas for ways to enhance the classroom experience in the future.  All classroom observations are confidential.

Any faculty member who would like to have a classroom observation can schedule an observation by contacting Bill Wischusen.

The Teaching Practices Inventory (TPI) is a survey that assesses your usage of the types of materials and activities that are known to promote student learning and engagement.  If you would like to gauge the extent to which you implement these practices in your courses, complete the TPI survey (link below).  At the end of the survey you will be given a total score as well as an individual score for each of the survey categories.

You can schedule a consultation with an LTC Faculty Fellow to review the results of your TPI survey.
