Laser Lithotripsy

Laser Lithotripsy is a new non-surgical technique used to fragment and remove urinary bladder stones from dogs. The procedure involves passing a small (~2 mm) camera up the urethra. Using the camera as a guide, a Holmium/YAG laser is used to shatter the stone into small pieces, which are then flushed out. The Laser is safe and effective on all types and sizes of stones. If you have a pet you wish to be evaluated for  Laser Lithotripsy, please contact our urology/nephrology team at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine at (225) 578-9600.
