The LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Service includes acupuncture and rehabilitation service for small animals, horses, and farm animal species. Expert services are provided by trained and certified individuals encouraging healing and improved well-being in patients by augmenting traditional medical or surgical treatments with acupuncture therapy and rehabilitative services. Our Integrative Medicine service works collaboratively with hospital veterinarians to provide the best care possible.
Veterinary acupuncture has been practiced in China for over 2,000 years. Interest and activity spread to other Asian countries such as Japan and Korea about 1,500 years ago. For the past 30 years, there has been tremendous growth and development of acupuncture in animals in Europe and the United States. Treated patients can greatly benefit from these therapies when included along with conventional veterinary care.
