Job Description: High School level of knowledge including biology courses or the equivalent. Certification or certification eligible as a Laboratory Animal Technician through American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) preferred. Six months to one year related experience in animal care and handling such as acquired in a veterinary, academic or commercial establishment; experience in research animal facility preferred. Additional six months on-the-job experience to become familiar with research protocols, policies and associated regulations. Experience must demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with a variety of animal behaviors to be able to identify and assess abnormal responses and to handle a variety of large and small domestic and farm animals. Mathematical ability to use decimals and fractions to measure food and mix solutions for special diets and medications. Organizational skills and attention to details to effectively monitor and record data related to researc h animals and facility environment, and to ensure activities are in accordance with various research protocols and policies.
Under general supervision of Supervisor Central Animal Facilities, works in Central Animal Facilities providing care for a variety of large and small animals involved in various research studies. Cleans cages, empties waste matter, fills cages with fresh bedding, grooms animals and prepares and feeds animals according to established policies and procedures and/or individual research protocols. Observes animals for signs of illness or other variations in behavior, notifying investigator, supervisor and/or veterinarian as appropriate. Assist investigators with handling of different animals and veterinary services by dispensing medications as necessary.

Job Description: Wolf Rock Animal Health Center is an integrative small animal practice in Southern Rhode Island. We are currently doing a nationwide search for a new associate veterinarian. We are seeking a veterinarian who has completed certificate-level training in veterinary acupuncture, and also has a desire to learn and practice additional alternative treatment modalities. Strong skills in conventional medicine and diagnostics are required.
Our Animal Health Center is located in a custom designed, free-standing building. All exam and treatment areas have windows and low-level lighting, for the comfort and well-being of the humans and animals that use them. We are equipped with digital radiography, dental radiography, stem cell therapy, PRP, therapeutic lasers, a fully equipped surgical suite, as well as access to a boarded surgical specialist and local referral hospitals. We provide whole life/holistic care, which includes: small animal wellness, dental and surgical care, chiropractic, acupuncture, herbal, nutritional, and homeopathic medicine. Our practice philosophy is to provide gentle loving care for our patients, integrating conventional and alternative therapies on an individual basis for lifelong health.
Work with an excellent support staff and loyal clients in a practice where loving and caring are part of the protocol. There are no emergency shifts. Hours include a 4 day work week and half day Saturday, every other week.
