ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR

The Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Tenure-Track, will be a Biomedical Scientist who conducts research and teaches in the graduate and professional veterinary program in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Required Qualifications:  PhD, DVM, MD or equivalent degree in Biological, Biomedical, or a related discipline; five plus years of related experience; postdoctoral experience and research background in carcinogenesis or toxicology, ability to teach in team-taught graduate and professional courses; have or will have extramural funding.

Special Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.

Postdoctoral Researcher Positions

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER 

Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct research on the animal models of lung inflammation under the supervision of Dr. Yogesh Saini, Assistant Professor, Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University.  The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct cell culture, western blotting, genotyping, RT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, cytokine estimation, confocal microscopy, rodent animal handling and survival surgeries.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences.  DVM is acceptable with ability to perform the duties listed. Lab experience with significant experience with cell culture, molecular biology (PCR, RT-PCR, Electrophoresis (protein, DNA and RNA), Protein, RNA and DNA isolation), and cell biology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with rodent handling and models of lung inflammation.

Special Requirements: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to perform laboratory physical activities limited to research work including transporting animals on cart, working in animal facility with mask on. Research Associate Positions

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE 2 OR 3 (2 positions)

Responsibilities:  The Research Associate 2 assists in conducting immunoassay analyses, blood or urine sample extraction, method set-up, and method development. The Research Associate 3 functions autonomously in the same setting.

Duties include accessioning and labeling of samples, screening of all samples, and preparation of samples for instrumental analysis. Other duties are preparation of reagents and appropriate standards to follow quality control and good laboratory practice, completion of screening paperwork and any documentation pertaining to screening, and maintaining all supplies necessary to perform job including, but not limited to: instrumental analysis and maintenance, extraction, and work station setup; performing special extractions and esoteric screening procedures for further instrumental analysis as determined by the Director;  Duties include using Excel and Access for data entry and data analysis/reduction; and  performing some analyses using instrumentation as determined by the Director.

Required Qualifications:  Both Levels: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Technology or a related field; must be able to conduct laboratory protocols involving pipetting, preparation of solutions and extractions, and documentation of performance under a quality assurance paradigm.  Level 2: one year of experience.  Level 3: two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Level 3: Two-year Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or four-year Medical Technologist (BS).  Both Levels: Previous drug testing laboratory and/or quality assurance experience; expertise in laboratory information management systems.

Special Requirements:  All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. All candidates must have the ability and willingness to work some holidays. Flexible scheduling of hours may be available. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE 2 OR 3 (1 position)

Responsibilities:  The Research Associate will perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the Equine Medication Surveillance Laboratory (EMSL) to facilitate the efficient operation of the laboratory.  The Research Associate 2 will assist with administrative responsibilities including but not limited to purchasing, billing/invoicing, maintaining inventories, data entry, sample receiving, preparing internal; and external correspondence, acting as liaison and point of contact for the laboratory, maintaining disposition of files and samples.  The Research Associate 3 will function autonomously in the same responsibilities.  Both levels will assist the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager in the compilation of reports, budgets, inventories, audits, and related information; and will perform other duties as appropriate to the mission of the EMSL as requested by the Laboratory Director.

Required Qualifications:  Both Levels: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Technology or a related field; ability to conduct laboratory protocols involving pipetting, preparation of solutions and extractions and documentation of performance under a quality assurance paradigm; must be able to perform increasingly responsible administrative tasks within a complex organization, with minimal supervision for Level 2, and at an advanced skill level for Level 3.  Level 2: Two years of experience.   Level 3: Three years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Both Levels: Two-year Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or four-year Medical Technological bachelor's degree (BS). Previous drug testing laboratory and/or quality assurance experience; expertise in laboratory information management systems.  Level 3: Progressively responsible and directly related laboratory administrative experience; experience supporting laboratory managers/quality system managers/laboratory directors.

Special Requirements:  Must be authorized to work in the United States. Ability and willingness to work some holidays (flexible scheduling of hours may be available). (Part-Time)

This is a part-time position scheduled to last 20 months, with the flexibility to adapt to a full-time, short term position for 10 months as necessary. Duties will include accessioning and labeling of samples, preparation of samples for analysis; performing DNA extractions; preparing reagents and appropriate standards; completion of sample paperwork records and any documentation; maintaining all supplies necessary to perform the job; using Excel for data entry and data analysis/reduction.

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in Biological or Biomedical Sciences, or related Biomedical field; up to one year of related experience. Preferred Qualifications: General lab experience.
