Frequently Asked Question for Semester Assessment

When is the assessment?
Students will get the reading on the Friday before Dead Week, the last week of classes, and the writing task on the Monday of Dead Week.  They should turn the essay in by Thursday at 10:00 A.M.
Where do students register and get the information?
Go to www.lsu.edu/uwp/assess/outlinepilot.htm.
When are we scoring?
We will score during finals week. We will practice scoring on Monday from 8:30-12:30. We will score on Tuesday 8:30-12:30 and Wednesday 8:30-until completion (generally around 12:30).
Do I have to attend the practice scoring if I participated previously in the assessment.
Yes.
When will the students learn their score?
By Thursday afternoon.
How will they learn about their scores?
They will login as they did in order to get the readings and writing task.
Will students be exempted on the basis of this assessment?
Students who receive two 6s (total of 12) or a 5 and a 6 (total of 11) will be exempted unless the teacher recommends against exemption. The teacher will read essays that receive two 5s and will determine whether any of those essays will be exempted. They will notify those students by email.
If students are automatically exempted, what should they do?
They do not need to enroll in English 2000 in the second semester of their second year.
Do students receive credit for 2000 if they are exempted.
Yes. They receive 3 credits.
