Gymnasium
The UREC Student Recreation Center (UREC SRC) gymnasium suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Gustav. Damage to the roof and the gymnasium floor have rendered the courts unusable since the storm. LSU and UREC administrators are working diligently with various LSU departments and Louisiana state officials to have the UREC SRC Gymnasium repaired and back in operation as soon as possible. Based on the timelines issued by the state-appointed architect, the current target date to reopen the courts is Fall 2009. A more detailed timeline will be available once construction begins.
In reaction to the damage to the facility, LSU UREC administrators acted quickly to provide outdoor basketball courts. These courts are located on UREC SRC Tennis Courts four, five, and six. The courts are available for drop-in use by LSU UREC members during hours of operation, and outdoor basketballs are available for check-out, free of charge, at the UREC SRC equipment desk.
This web page has been created to keep you updated on the progress of the project. Additional information and progress photos will be posted as details and a timeline of the project are available.
