Welcome Water Polo and Women’s Lacrosse!
After an intensive application and review process, the Sport Club Advisory Council unanimously agreed to extend the invitation to the Water Polo and Women’s Lacrosse clubs to join the Sport Club program, effective immediately. Both clubs are already exceptionally strong organizations and are led by enthusiastic student-leaders who will ensure that both clubs maintain their recent growth and improvement. Water Polo and Women’s Lacrosse have great potential to immediately contribute to the thriving Sport Club community and are model student organizations on LSU’s campus. UREC is lucky to have the opportunity to partner with them!

New Beginnings Upcoming
Fall semester 2012 will mark the beginning of a new era for the LSU Sport Club program, one that is highlighted by an emphasis on equitability, leadership development, service, and sustainable growth. Over the past academic year, the Sport Club program underwent a comprehensive review and has moved away from a Tier system of governance towards a more egalitarian model. Additionally, sport club funding will now be more readily available to all clubs and the sport club program is looking to grow and bring in more clubs! Interested student organizations on the LSU campus should definitely check out the benefits and the opportunities that come with being a UREC Sport Club. For more information on becoming a Sport Club, visit http://www.lsu.edu/urec/html/sport_clubs_get_involved.html and contact the Sport Club Coordinator.

Tyler Abate, LSU Powerlifting Club Senior, Kinesioogy.
What responsibilities do you have in the club? I am the club President. I am responsible for turning in paper work, organizing team meetings, and just making sure everything runs smoothly.
Why should someone join your club? Powerlifting is a unique sport in that you are competing as a team, but also as an individual. It allows you to push yourself to limits that you never thought were attainable. When someone joins are team, they become part of a family. We strive to push each other to become not only stronger in the weight room, but better human beings.
