02/20/2014 04:24 PM

BATON ROUGE – The LSU National Association of Women MBAs, or NAWMBA, will host the sixth annual Keep the Pace 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk on Friday, March 14. Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Business Education Complex. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Charlotte Murray Pace Memorial MBA Scholarship with a small portion going to the NAWMBA Chapter Support Fund for professional development and networking opportunities.

Early registration is available and is $15 for students and $20 for non-students. Registration the day of the event will be $25. To register early, click here. The 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Food, drinks, music and door prizes will be part of the expected fun atmosphere.

According to NAWMBA Vice President of Philanthropy Katie Routh, beginning in 2009, NAWMBA started a tradition of keeping Pace’s spirit alive by hosting an annual 5K to benefit the memorial scholarship created in her honor.

“The scholarship is awarded each year to a female LSU MBA whom most closely exemplifies Murray’s hard work and bright personality,” Routh said.

On May 24, 2002, Pace graduated in the top 10 percent of her class from the LSU Flores MBA Program. She was murdered one week later. In the wake of her tragic death, classmates and friends asked that a scholarship be established in her name to commemorate her life and achievements.
