Eduniversal Ranks M.S. Finance Higher, MPA in Top 30

01/30/2014 11:21 AM

BATON ROUGE – Eduniversal has announced its 2013-2014 ranking of the best 4,000 master’s programs for 30 majors and has included the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business’ Department of Finance and Public Administration Institute once again. The worldwide ranking body designated PAI’s Master of Public Administration as 22 in North America and LSU’s Master of Science in Finance curriculum as 38 in North America. This is the third annual edition of these Eduniversal rankings, which are separate and unrelated to its global rankings for business schools.

According to Department of Finance Chair Carlos Slawson, the Master of Science in Finance’s slight uptick from 40 to 38 in this year’s rankings is a signal that the program is not only maintaining its position but improving it.

“Considering this ranking takes into account programs from both private and public institutions in North America, being amongst the top 40 is pretty good,” Slawson said. “We look forward to continued improvement in all of our rankings as we evaluate and enhance our programs.”

According to PAI Director Jim Richardson, the ranking shows PAI is maintaining an even keel.

“Of the four SEC institutions that were ranked, we’re second,” Richardson said. “The other two are outside of the top 30. Our program is strong, vibrant and growing every year with the addition of new alumni and new faculty bringing fresh ideas to our srtudents.”

PAI’s faculty includes a fellow of the National Academy for Public Administration; a member of the National Council for Science and the Environment; participants in the American Society for Public Administration; members of budgeting, finance and public policy planning associations and major contributors to state and local public policy.

Eduniversal’s rankings are based on three criteria:

  • The reputation of the program
  • The career prospects and the salary level of the first employment after graduation
  • The satisfaction feedback of the students
