11/19/2013 02:09 PM

BATON ROUGE – The LSU Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs invites the public to revisit and commemorate the 40th anniversary of Louisiana’s 1973 Constitutional Convention on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5-7 p.m. in the Holliday Forum of the Journalism Building. The forum will be free to attend and open to the public.

The symposium will highlight first-hand accounts of the 1973 convention and learn about how decisions made there still affect Louisiana today. Panelists participating in the forum include former Louisiana Governors Edwin Edwards and Buddy Roemer; former Louisiana Speaker of the House Bubba Henry; former Louisiana Representative Woody Jenkins; and delegates to the 1973 convention Mary Zervigon, John Alario, Judge Jim Dennis and Johnny Jackson Jr.

Moderating the panel will be Beth Courtney, president of Louisiana Public Broadcasting.

There will also be a reception in honor of the panelists and the delegates at the Journalism Building immediately following the event. All delegates and delegate’s family members should email Tara Brown at thamme1@lsu.edu to reserve special seating. This event is open to the public, but it is requested that you RSVP by visiting www.cc73.eventbrite.com.
