MEDIA ADVISORY: LSU Tigerama Scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29
BATON ROUGE – The LSU Tiger Marching Band, Golden Girls and Colorguard will present this year’s annual Tigerama concert event on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
For more than 30 years, Tigerama has served a special concert event held to celebrate not only the current LSU Tiger football season, but also highlight the many talented musical and performance ensembles that are part of the LSU School of Music’s Department of Bands.
Proceeds from this year’s Tigerama will go to fund the entire Tiger Band organization’s planned trip to Ireland to march in the world famous 2014 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin.
Doors for the event will open at 5 p.m., and dress for the event is tailgate attire. The event includes performances by the LSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Tiger Band, featuring the Golden Girls and Colorguard, as well as the LSU Cheerleaders. In addition, retired LSU Director of Bands Frank Wickes will serve as guest conductor of the Wind Ensemble during its performance. Wickes served as director of bands at LSU for 30 years, retiring in 2010.
A special VIP reception and silent auction event will take place from 5-6:30 p.m., prior to the concert beginning at 7 p.m. The auction will include but is not limited to special LSU collectibles, LSU and Tiger Band experiences and unique, one-of-a-kind items. The $100 VIP ticket price includes pre-event entrance, access to the silent auction and complimentary catering, live musical entertainment, pictures with members of the Golden Girls and Colorguard and reserved “front and center” stadium seating.
In addition to the evening Tigerama performance, there will also be a special 9:30 a.m. daytime performance for area schoolchildren, also in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This event will feature only the Tiger Band, Golden Girls and Color Guard. Tickets for this performance are $10 each and include a meet-and-greet session with Tiger Band, Golden Girls and Colorguard members following the performance.
Media parking for Tigerama will be available in Lot 201, adjacent to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, or lot 301, located across Stadium Drive and adjacent to Tiger Stadium.
