LSU’s F. King Alexander Participating in American Association of State Colleges and Universities Conference in Los Angeles
Alexander to present with Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter on “Ratings, Quality and Educational Innovation"
BATON ROUGE – LSU Chancellor and President F. King Alexander will be a part of the Association of State Colleges and Universities annual conference being held Oct. 21-23 in Los Angeles. The conference, “Getting it Right – Leading the Public University of the Future,” will include a presidential forum with Alexander presiding on “Ratings, Quality and Educational Innovation: A Conversation with Martha Kanter.”
During “Ratings, Quality and Educational Innovation: A Conversation with Martha Kanter,” Kanter, under secretary of education, and Alexander will discuss President Obama’s new agenda for higher education and respond to questions and concerns about ratings, quality and educational innovation. A White House policy official has also been invited to participate.
This session provides an opportunity for AASCU presidents and chancellors to inform and influence the implementation of a policy initiative that will likely have a significant impact on higher education. Creating a rating system that achieves the goals of transparency and accountability without having unintended consequences that undermine other important goals such as access and quality will require creative energy and collaboration.
AASCU’s Annual Meeting provides presidents and chancellors meaningful opportunities to examine critical issues, to focus on leadership challenges and to explore ways in which they can advance their institutions in the fulfillment of their missions.
