LSU to Host R&B/Pop Duo Karmin for On-Campus Homecoming Concert Oct. 24

10/14/2013 03:53 PM

BATON ROUGE – LSU will welcome R&B/pop duo Karmin for a free, public concert to be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. on the LSU Parade Ground. The concert is one of eight events to be held in celebration of the university’s Homecoming week, taking place Oct. 20-27.

Amy Ellis and Nick Noonan are Karmin, a genre-bending pop duo with memorable, high-energy live performances. Their sound is an original blend of hip-hop, pop and rock which is complimented by their signature monochromatic visual style. Karmin is the first fan-discovered group to translate from viral sensation to “stadium status” with more than half a billion views and double platinum sales. Since their launch into the mainstream, they’ve blitzed the world with their perpetual touring schedule and debut TV performance on “Saturday Night Live” leading into major appearances across radio, print, TV and film.

Karmin is best known for hits, “Brokenhearted,” which reached the Top 40 in the U.S., “Hello,” which reached number one on the Dance Billboard Chart in the U.S. and recent single “Acapella” climbing the charts as they are set to soon release their debut album, “Pulses.”

The Homecoming concert will be one of a series of three events held Thurs., Oct. 24. LSU Student Government’s Students on Target group will host the annual Battle of the Bands competition among four student, faculty and staff bands beginning at 5 p.m., which will be immediately followed by the LSU Homecoming pep rally. All three events are free and open to the public.\

Individuals with disabilities should contact Campus Life at 225-578-5160 at least seven days in advance to address any accommodation concerns.

Media credentials and media parking permit requests are required in advance of Thursday, Oct. 24, in order to provide the artist’s agents a list of all media agencies expected on site as well as to accommodate requests for interviews and parking. No flash photography will be permitted after the first five minutes of the performance. Media requests should be made through Margo Jolet in the LSU Campus Life at
